Zodiac Affinity
Dolomite has an affinity with all signs. Its Energy is Receptive, its Planet is the Moon, and its Element is Water.

Folklore
In 1791, a man named Dolomieu discovered limestones that seemed different in their properties from regular limestone as he journied through the Alps. After investigating its composition, it was noted as a separate crystal instead of being identified with Calcite.

Because of its shift in identity from Calcite to its own identity of Dolomite, it is hard to sort out old mythology on this one. Just from color association, I would imagine that Dolomite had been used in love rituals just as Calcite had been.

Crystal System
Dolomite has a trigonal crystal system and is in the mineral class of carbonates. It's coloring can range from brown, red, pinks and white, depending on where it's formed. It is much like Calcite in its chemical makeup except that half of the calcium ions have been replaced by magnesium.

The Moroccan varieties I have pictured above have a lovely pearly pink coloring. Arizona Dolomite is very red in color because of the additional irons found in it. Massive deposits of white and brown are found in the Italian Alps where it is quarried for use in buildings and ornamental stone work.

Spiritually...
Dolomite encourages self realization. It makes it easier to just be ourselves without pretending to be otherwise. It also fortifies a sense of tradition and can aide in fitting into developing communities.

Emotionally...
Dolomite ensures stability. It can bestow contentment since it has a balancing effect on our emotions.

Application
Dolomite can be worn or laid upon the skin. Its strongest effects are found when spending time meditating with it or sitting inside a stone circle.

Spiritual Healing...
...is not medicine but assists you on your path to better health and wellbeing. The
information that has been provided is not medical in nature and should not replace any medical treatment. Consult your doctor or other health care practitioners regarding health issues.

Mentally...
Dolomite can encourage simple and pragmatic thought patterns. It will ease and uncomplicate goals we have set for ourselves and foster a healthy common sense approach to things.

Physically...
Dolomite stimulates the metabolism of calcium and magnesium. Many health food stores carry it in capsule form because it is so efficient for this purpose. It will help stabilize the heart and circulation and has a relaxing effect.

Corresponding Chakra...
Color Pink: Heart Chakra. Aids physical body calcium metabolism, aids osteoporosis, and broken bones. Opens the heart to trust of self and Goddess/God, brings inner certainty, self confidence and positive self love.
