| Batiks are designed by Amara Wahaba Karuna and custom hand painted with very bright permanent dyes in family run shops in Bali. There is a lot of friendly social interaction as whole families gather to work together on these. | They are created using a process which allows for consistent lines in the motifs. First the basic design is silkscreed onto cotton/rayon fabric, and then each one is handpainted with washable fabric paints. | The dyes are very strong and permanent. The fabric has already been boiled to get off the wax used in manufacturing. To remove wrinkles, tumble in a dryer for 5 minutes, or lightly press with a warm (NOT HOT) iron. |
