6th / Brow / Third Eye / Sanskrit: Ajna
There are seven energy spots that make up the major Chakras and each governs the physical, mental and spiritual aspects of our lives. In healing with crystals, assistance is given to the areas that may be blocked or excessive to balance the energy flow through our body and aid in our overall well being.
It has always intrigued me that there are seven major Chakras and seven families or shapes in the Crystal System. I don't believe this has occurred by "accident". Generally, while color is always a good starting point, many times it is the shape (see the Crystal Systems and You pages) of the crystal that will be of more benefit in bringing about balance in a Chakra. |

I used to be puzzled with stone choices my hand was drawn to at different times since the "color" didn't match, but when I later looked up the crystal system the stone was in, it then made perfect sense. And, there will always be exceptions to every "rule". We are each unique and complicated, and it is sometimes just not possible to know anything more than "this is the combination that will help." The stones are wiser than me, my hands are just their tools to use.
If you have issues with symbols, images, dreams, vision or intuition, this is one to work on.
Areas Governed
The 6th Chakra is about intuition and self-reflection. This Chakra can suffer a trauma when things you have seen don't match what you have been told, you have lived in a violent environment or do not validate occurances of psychic intuition. This Chakra is developed during adolescense and it helps in establishing your personal identity and the ability to percieve patterns.
When in Balance...
We are intuitive, have a good memory, can remember dreams, can think symbolically and are able to visualize. Additionally, we will be very perceptive and imaginative.

When Excessive...
We may have difficulty in concentrating and completing tasks, can have obsessions, experience nightmares, or suffer from hallucinations and delusions.
When Deficient...
We can be insensitive, have poor memory or vision, find it hard to imagine alternatives, lack imagination, and are not able to remember dreams. We can also suffer from denial because we can't see what is going on or believe there is only one true right way to do things-our way.
Healing the Chakra...
As in the preceeding Chakras, it is important to reconnect with our body when out of balance here. Adding chlorophyll to the diet can help. Work with breath and air. Search out visual stimulation (art show or gallery), experiment with visual art (coloring or drawing) and concentrate on connecting images with feelings.
A great image and feeling connector can be finger painting. It is much more fun if you can do it with kids, and they are great teachers! Use your own or borrow some for an afternoon (most parents won't object if you've hosed them off before returning them and you will appear much less silly to your neighbors if kids have joined you on the lawn if you're a bit worried about what folks might think).
If you listen to why they choose certain colors it is amazing. You'll hear things like, it's happy, it's scary, it's funny (feelings). The swirls will become faeries, or rabbits, or dragons to slay (associating patterns). Listen to what they see. Enjoy their inspiration and relearn your own. And I have found, the messier you get, the more rewarding the experience for all. |
