Folklore
I am always intrigued when my studies show me that beliefs of a stones properties seem to be the same from continent to continent, and over vast periods of time. It reinforces my thoughts that we have forgotten or discarded so many gifts readily available to help us on our life path.
Native American tribes and many other indigenous people over the world have used this stone for curing snake bites and to bring rain. Since very ancient times it was known as a rain bringer as the 4th century author of Lithica stated: The gods propitious hearken to his prayers, who'ever the polished glass-green Jasper wears: His parched glebe they'll satiate with rain, and send for showers to soak the thirsty plain.
Crystal System
Green Jasper has a Trigonal crystal system and is in the mineral class of oxide, the quartz group. Its green coloring comes from the presence of iron silicate compounds (chlorite, etc.). Basically it is a bloodstone without the red spots.
If you are expending great amounts of energy trying to improve one part of yourself, you may tend to ignore other parts and create an imbalance. Some individuals can even reach a point where this personal imbalance can cause the collapse of their every day ability to function. Green Jasper can counter this by working as a gentle reminder that the whole is only the result of all the parts. |
