1st and 4th Chakra

1st, Root or Base Chakra
Color of black and/or red
Sanskrit: Muladhara
and
4th or Heart Chakra
Color of green
Sanskrit: Anahata

When used at the first Chakra, Dravite is a good stress reliever and grounding stone. If you want to bring hidden or suppressed feelings to the surface to be dealt with, use it at the 4th, your Heart Chakra. It will provide a soothing and calming effect and provide the courage to handle those emotions without stress - just sees them for what they are. Once identified, we can deal with, and resolve, what needs to be taken care of.

Crystal System...

Dravite is best known as the ‘Brown Tourmaline’ and probably one of the least known Tourmaline varieties. Crystals from certain localities can be very lustrous and beautifully crystallized. It received its name after Dravograd, Slovenia, the area where Dravite was first described and named in 1883 by Gustav Tschermak for the river Drau (Latin meaning of Drave). It normally occurs in granite pegmatites, or in granites that have undergone metasomarism by boron-bearing fluids. It can also be found in sediments adjacent to these granites.

Dravite has an Isometric Crystal System and is in the Tourmaline family. Generally they are what is called prismatic (meaning they have four or more sides similar in length and width and are usually elongated in one direction). The most common form of Dravite is columnar (meaning it has parallel, slender, compact, adjoining crystal formations).

Dravite’s coloring can range from dark yellow, to deep brown, to almost appearing black. Much of it’s shading depends on how much iron is present. Less iron brings the more yellow (Champagne Tourmaline) and more iron the lovely brown coloring.

Application...

This is one you can carry with you all the time, especially if feeling stressed and things are hard to cope with. It was also very relaxing when I used during meditation. I felt calmed and refreshed afterwards.

Spiritually...

Dravite is not one of the higher spiritual zone stones. But hey, we can't always be up in the clouds, nor do I think, should we be. Sometimes it is good to reconnect with our earthly selves by asking for Spirit to guide us to what we need to be working on - here. It is only then that we are able to achieve a higher spiritual connection - when all the physical, earthly junk is cleared away.

Emotionally...

Dravite assists us in letting go of old emotional problems. It helps us see them so and we can then deal with the issues instead of burying them and allowing them to fester. It also helps us to accept ourselves, and improves self esteem and encourages a healthy self-love.

Mentally...

Dravite helps us to accept ourselves, warts and all. It does this by letting us see our light AND dark sides, and accepting them as a part of the whole without judging. It can improve self esteem and assists us in developing a healthy self love.

Physically...

Dravite has been shown to be helpful in many aspects of physical healing. It has been known to assist with purifying the blood, healing bowel ailments, and stimulating physical regeneration of ailing or diseased organs, including intestines and skin. It is also being used for help with addictive or self-destructive behaviors.

Zodiac Affinity...

Dravite has a special affinity with Aries but benefits all signs. Its Energy is Receptive and its Planet and Element are Earth.

Folklore...

It is believed that Dravite fosters love and friendship. In medieval times, it was believed to heal physical and mental problems, to prevent death, induce a peaceful sleep and dispel fear, negativity and grief.
