Learn About Pink Opal

I've had a lot of requests for a good "self-love," or a "how to get over..." stone over the past few months, and to no one's surprise, look what showed up! Funny how that works!

4th Chakra Symbol

4th or Heart Chakra
Color of green and/or pink
Sanskrit: Anahata

Pink Opal wants to activate our Heart Chakra and provides peace and calm to our heart center and to our emotional body. By softening our heart, it then allows us to let go of pain we have subconsciously held on to. At its very center, this one is just filled with love.

Crystal System...

Pink Opal is an amorphous quartz composed of silica anhydride and water. Being a colloidal substance, it has no actual crystalline structure and is lacking a regular shape. It forms from a sedimentary process and is a secondary process from the alteration of high silica igneous extrusive rocks. (Alteration is a process that modifies pre-existing rocks or sediments).

Basically, it is a type of common opal that is opaque and does not have the “fire” like that of precious opals. It's coloring ranges from a bright pink to a pink-white, cream, and even a very pale lavender. Currently Peru has the brightest and most impressive Pink Opal specimens, but it can also be found in other South American countries, USA, and even Africa and Australia. Most of what is available in he market today has come from Peru.

In the way that most opals form, pink opal occurs when water evaporates from silica, leaving a gel behind that eventually solidifies into the opal. The pink coloring occurs depending on the locale. Mexican and Peruvian pink opals get their color from small amounts of quinones, organic compounds often found in plants, that enter the stone during formation. American and Australian pink opals get their color from the presence of manganese.

Application...

Pink Opal a perfect stone for someone to carry if they are struggling with any sadness, especially that of a broken heart. Not a fast acting one and will need to be used over a longer period of time. It will push you to look within, and strengthen your connection to your inner self. By strengthening this connection, you become stronger as an individual.

It also helps provide a sense of personal individuality and shows just how strong you and your heart truly are. By turning inwards and beginning to work on yourself, emotional strain weighing on your heart and mind begin to fade away.

Spiritually...

Pink Opal opens our hearts to be able to experience the love of the Divine and the presence of our Guardian Angels. It helps us to connect to our Highest Self and to feel the oneness with all of creation.

Emotionally...

Pink Opal encourages us to be more generous and community-minded, letting go of ego-driven attachments and instead striving towards a higher ideal. It aids us to love more and to see all of humanity as our family.

Mentally...

Pink Opal provides an idealistic quality that will encourage us to think outside of the box. It helps us to suspend our rigid beliefs about how the world works and instead be open to new possibilities. It will also guide us in reaching deeper levels of meditation and to be more conscious in our everyday life.

Physically...

Pink Opal is recommended for anyone who is healing from physical or sexual abuse.  If the abuse was recent, it's energy wraps around and hugs us while our body recovers and our mind tries to make sense of what happened.  If the abuse occurred in the past, Pink Opal will help to reconnect with our body so that we can enjoy physical touch and be able to nurture ourselves in healthy and safe relationships. It is also helpful for eyesight, heart disease and injury, Parkinson's disease, the lungs, and spleen.

Hi there! I'm the owner of Howl at the Moon Gems. I have been infatuated with crystals and gems since I was a child when my maternal grandfather was my first teacher of the natural world. He taught me a lot of the old ways as to uses of herbs, purposes of tree woods, and gave me my first unofficial stone classes. A lot of time has passed since those early days ... and, while I have learned much, I am still learning.
